Description

Field Trip with our 2026 Grantee St. Luke's Wood River Foundation

Friday, July 31, 2026 | 12 - 1 p.m.

St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, 100 Hospital Dr., Ketchum, ID 83340

Join us for lunch along with a video screening and Q&A with St. Luke's Wood River Foundation staff and hospital leadership from 12-12:30. From 12:30-1:00 we will tour the Women's Imaging center. Kandis Pedersen, Director of Imaging, will present the new mammogram technology.

Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) technology is a powerful tool that greatly improves the detection of breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue. Traditional mammography can miss up to one third of cancers in this group, and nearly half of all women over 40 have dense breast tissue. At St. Luke’s Wood River, more than 70 percent of recent patients fall into this category. Before bringing ABUS to SLWR, the closest ABUS machine was 170 miles away in Nampa, which created significant travel challenges for local patients. Installing this technology in the Wood River Valley increases early detection, reduces hardship for women who must travel long distances for screening, and broadens access to high quality breast imaging.

This event is limited to 30 attendees. Please register by Friday, July 24th to reserve your spot.
